Bishop Jim Leon Hamby, 58 of Frederick, MD., died suddenly on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Sandra Baines Hamby his wife of 36 years.

Born January 26, 1951 in Pelzer, South Carolina he was the son of Clara Williams Hamby of Essex, MD and the late Norman Luther Hamby.

Bishop Hamby was a graduate of Lee College and Luther Rice Seminary where he received his Masters and Doctorate Degree. He pastored and evangelized for over forty years. He was the Pastor and Founder of the LightHouse Ministries Church of God of Mt. Airy and also founded the West Aurora Church of God in Illinois. Jim loved spending time with his family and had a great love for his church. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and was an avid reader.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two children Troy Hamby and wife Paige of Abingdon, MD and Melody McKee and husband Trent of Smithsburg, MD, his grandchildren Carter and Jackson Hamby, David, Joseph and Luke McKee, his sister Rebecca Metzgar and husband Richard, Sr. Of Essex, MD and a large extended family.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at the Maranatha Community Church of God, 123 Byte Drive, Frederick, MD, Tuesday, January 26, from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m

Services: Services will be held at the Maranatha Community Church of God, wer Byte Drive, Frederick on Wednesday, January 27 at 11:00 a.m. With Bishop Ronald Martin officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the LightHouse Ministries Church of God, P. O. Box 628, Mt. Airy, MD 21777.
