Billie Reece "Whistle" Moore, 74, of Union Bridge, Maryland, passed away suddenly after a stroke on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster, Maryland.
Born on March 22, 1948, in Jonesville, VA, he was the son of the late Lester Sumpter Moore and Effie Marie (Delph) Moore. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Beatrice Ann Moore.
Billie worked for 37 years with Montgomery County School Board retiring after all those years. He loved to fish and watch his old western shows. He also worked for many years with Walnut Hill Shell in Gaithersburg, Maryland. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow up around him as well as his great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his three children, Wanda Harris of Hagerstown, William Moore and wife, Genia, of Hagerstown and Annette Reese of Walkersville. He has seven grandchildren, April Jones, Samuel lHarris, Kaylynn Moore, Tyler Moore, Destiny Reese, Cheyenne Reese, and Carson Myers. He also has eight great-grandchildren; four brothers Earl Moore, Eddie Moore, Danny Moore, Sr., and Robbie Moore; three sisters, Roberta Killion, Callie Reed, and Juanita McFarland; numerous cousins; and aunts and uncles.
Billie was preceded in death by a grandson, Gregory Moore; great-grandson, Kayden Jones; two brothers, Lester Moore and David Moore; and numerous aunts and uncles.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, October 10, 2022 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, Maryland.
A celebration of Billy's life journey will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at Stauffer Funeral Home in Frederick. Rev. James Hamrick will officiate. Final resting place ceremonies will be held at Mt. Prospect Cemetery in Thurmont.
