Beulah {Boots} Rice

Mrs. Beulah "Boots" Rice, 74 of Braddock Heights, MD, died May 9, 2009, at her residence.

She was the wife of Raymond E. Rice, her husband of 54 years.

Born July 12, 1934, in Lantz, MD, she was the daughter of the late William A. and Edith L. Lewis Smith.

Mrs. Rice loved to garden, cook and spend time with her family and friends.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Braddock Heights Ward. She taught the primary children and served many years in the nursery.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Karen Retorick and husband David of Frederick, Kaylene Rice and companion Dale Henderson of Warfordsburg, PA; two grandchildren, granddaughter Chase Retorick and grandson Garian Rice; Sisters, Edna Pittinger of Thurmont, Hazel Smith of Asheville, N.C., Nancy Stottlemyer of Hagerstown, and Betty Burrier of Rocky Ridge.

Mrs. Rice was preceded in death by five brothers; Clifford, Jerome, Calvin (Bus), John, and Elwood Smith; Sisters Virginia Smith, Margie Patterson, Pauline Lantz, Goldie Lear, Cora Kuhn, Marie Wilhide, Irene Sanders, and Martha (Sis) Wilson.

Visitation: The family will receive friends on Tuesday May 12 from 6-9pm at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.

Services: The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 13 at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, 199 North Place, Frederick from 9:00am until time of Funeral Services at 10:00am. The Bishop Michael Schwemmer will officiate. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Hospice of Frederick County, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702.
