Ms. Betty Lou Smith, 85, of Jefferson, MD passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at her home.
Born on February 8, 1928 in Brunswick, MD she was the daughter of the late Jobe and Lela Simons Breeden.
Ms. Smith was a lifetime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School for 30 years. She was also a member of the Eagles Club in Brunswick. Betty loved animals, especially her cat, Katie Kitty. She enjoyed gardening, dancing, feeding her birds and the beach. Betty was a devoted aunt and loved being surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her brother Jobe Breeden and his wife Betty Lou of Rohrersville, MD, sister-in-law Dolores Breeden of Jefferson, MD; nephew Thomas Lake and wife Cyndi of Keymar, MD; nieces Sandra Hemp and husband Billy of Jefferson, Linda Whipp of Jefferson, Andrea Vermillion and husband Skip of Brunswick, Mary Lee Moberly of Frederick and numerous nieces and nephews. She will also be remembered by her special friend Nancy Darr of Middletown.
She is preceded in death by her brothers John and Robert Breeden and her sisters Lorraine Layman and Drucilla Lake; nephew Bobby Whipp and niece Delores Knott.
The family will receive friends at the Jefferson United Church of Christ, 3837 Jefferson Pike, Jefferson, MD on Saturday, June 29, 2013 from 10-11 AM where a funeral service will begin at 11 AM. Reverends John and Rebecca Shillingburg will officiate.
Interment will follow at the Jefferson Reform Cemetery.
