Mrs. Betty Jane Williams, 94, of Frederick went to be with her Lord on Saturday January 14, 2018, at her residence. She was the devoted wife of Ignace Harrison Williams, her husband of 33 years.
Born on December 12, 1923, in Kent, Ohio she was the daughter of the late Carl and Maggie Biddinger.
For 40 years the family lived in the Fifth Street area of Frederick. Betty worked at Sears and Roebuck on Patrick St. and then decades for Potomac Edison in Frederick and Hagerstown. Her older sister Pauline died at 9 years old from a sparkler catching her clothes on fire at a birthday party which led to changes in Maryland fireworks laws. Betty and "Iggie" loved traveling the USA with AARP, especially to Hawaii. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, cross stitching and watching Hallmark Movies. Betty was a lifelong member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Frederick.
Surviving are her beloved granddaughter, Toni Rene' Banks of Brunswick, her caretaker; a wonderful grandson David Michael Banks of Frederick, three great grandchildren: Michelle Leigh McClafferty of Harpers Ferry, WV, Jonathan H. Currence, Jr.and Donald Andrew Currence both of Brunswick, MD, Grandson-in-law, Jonathan H. Currence, Sr.; two great-great grandchildren: Brent William Davis and Aralynn Serenity Rene' Stotler of Harpers Ferry. She will also be remembered by daughter-in-law Doralee (Lee) Banks a devoted friend since 1960.
Betty was predeceased by her 13 year old son, Steven Michael Banks, and adult son C. David Banks of Frederick.
The family will receive friends form 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Thursday, January 18 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick where services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 19, with Rev. Steve Rose officiating. Interment in the family plot in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
