Mrs. Betty S. Stauffer, 99, of Knoxville, died Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Ralph W. Stauffer, Jr., who predeceased her in March of 1974.
Born September 30, 1918 in Gary, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Glenn and Bessie (Scott) Swisher.
Betty was a 1939 graduate of Hood College. In earlier years, she worked as a dietician with Frederick County Public Schools and later retired as a clerk with the Bank of Brunswick. She was a tutor with Frederick County Literacy Council, enjoyed volunteering with various organizations, and was a member of the Inner Wheel, the auxiliary to the Brunswick Rotary.
Betty was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Brunswick..
She is survived by two children, Scott W. Stauffer of Knoxville, and Susan Dallas and husband, William, of Springfield, VA; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, including niece Lynn Foreman. Betty will be remembered by her caretakers, Betty, Beth, Roxanne and Tim.
Betty was predeceased by her sister, Mary Hering and husband, Edwin.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, December 22, 2017 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 N. Maple Ave., Brunswick, where services will begin at 11 a.m. with Rev. Katie Bishop officiating.
