Betty Shoup

Betty Jane Shoup, 94 of Frederick, Maryland passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Homewood at Crumland Farms. She was the wife of the late Richard Shoup who passed away in 1998.

Born June 29, 1921 in Altoona, PA she was the daughter of the late William and Verda Murray.

Betty served in the US Women’s Army Corp from 1943-1945.

Betty lived in Silver Spring, Maryland for 50 years.  She was member of Marvin Memorial United Methodist Church in Silver Spring and she was once very active in the church. She worked several years at the Schweinhaut Senior Center and was also a Girl Scout troop leader. Betty also served of chief of the election board in Silver Spring.

Betty retired from Montgomery County Public School System. She was an avid reader and a Steelers fan.

She is survived by her two children, Maxine “Max” Dunn of Colorado and Glenn Shoup and wife Pam of Point of Rocks, three grandchildren, Matthew Dunn, Darby Shoup and Delaney Shoup and a sister-in-law Betty Rotz.

She is preceded in death by a son-in-law, Stephen Dunn, a brother, William Murray and a brother-in-law, Alden Shoup.

A memorial service will be held at Homewood at Crumland Farms on Friday, January 15th at 11:00AM with Chaplin Shelley Weakly officiating.

Inurnment will be in Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery.
