Betty Jane Shaw

Betty Jane Shaw, 77, of Frederick, passed from this life on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, VA. 

Born on January 30, 1947, in Darnestown, MD, she was the daughter of Grace May (Carter) Burdette and the late James Boyd Burdette. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, George Robert Shaw. 

She was a graduate of Gaithersburg High School. She retired after 30 years of employment with Weis at Spring Ridge. 

Betty was a member of the Frederick Moose 371, the Rockville Moose 156, Mt. Airy Lions Club and the Damascus travel club. She loved hanging out with friends and dancing at the Moose club. She loved the Baltimore Orioles and enjoyed watching little league games. 

In addition to her mother, Grace, she is survived by her son, Earl W. Staley, Jr., and his wife, Candi, of Frederick; sister, Jackie Holston, and her husband, Jamie, of Kearneysville, WV; grandchildren, Kayla and Kristopher Staley; step children, Nora Gochenour and Gerald Shaw of Mt. Airy; step grandchildren, Melanie Ledford and husband, Steven, Karleigh Hubble-Perry and husband, Brandon, Kayleigh and Brooklynn Shuff; niece, April Davis; and nephew, Adam Holston. 

She was preceded in death by her son, Kevin B. Staley. 

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick. 

A celebration of Betty's life journey will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 30, 2024 at Boyds Presbyterian Church, 19901 White Ground Road in Boyds, MD. Rev. Derek Longbrake will officiate. Burial will be at Boyds Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Frederick Health Hospice, to Boyds Presbyterian Church, or to your local American Legion or VFW.
