Betty Sell

Mrs. Betty J. Sell, 78, of Walkersville, MD., passed away Friday, January 7, 2011 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Edward G. Sell who died September 15,2002. They had been married 53 years.

Born January 21, 1932 in Carroll County, MD, she was the daughter of the late J. William and Hazel B. Stambaugh.

A long time member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, formerly serving on the council, was a Luther League advisor, and choir member.

She was a 1949 graduate of Elmer Wolfe High School, Union Bridge. In the 60's and 70's she was employed by the Frederick County Board of Education, and was a secretary at both the elementary and high schools in Walkersville. Mrs. Sell as a "people person" - enjoyed sharing food from her kitchen and goodwill and encouragement from her heart.

She is survived by her son Edward G. Sell, II of Frederick and her daughter S. Diane Fauble and husband Arthur of Walkersville, and granddaughter Lauren N. Barrett and husband Gary of Brunswick, and step great grandsons Gary Barrett and and Joshua Barrett , a brother Larry W. Stambaugh and wife Shelbe of Keymar, sisters Janet A. Keyton and husband Ronald of Hagerstown and Judith A. Speak and husband Kevin of Taneytown, and a number of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her sisters Linda L. Gist and Patsy M. Buckingham.

There will be no visitation and interment will be private.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, January 15, at 11:00 a.m.at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Walkersville. Mrs. Sell’s pastor the Rev. Mark L. Foucart, will officiate.
