Betty Root

Betty Jacqulene (Hahn) Root, 72, of Keedysville, Maryland passed away on October 19, 2015 at the Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
Born on November 2, 1942 in Washington County Maryland, she was the daughter of Charles and Helen (Badger) Hahn. She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 Gerald Robert Root who passed in 1997.
She was a graduate of Boonsboro High School.
Betty spent most of her life as a dietitian working for Vindobona Nursing & Rehabilitation center in Braddock Heights, Maryland. She retired from the Garden State Tannery in 2002.
She was a member of the Brownsville Church of the Brethren in Brownsville, Maryland.
She enjoyed gardening in her free time and her flowers.
Betty is survived by her loving sons, James E. Root and his wife Cathy of Sharpsburg, Maryland and Douglas W. Root and his companion Amy Douts of Landisville, Pennsylvania; one granddaughter, Tiffany Root of Boonsboro; and many other loving relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 23, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home in Boonsboro. Final Resting place ceremonies will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Keedysville, MD.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 22 at the funeral home.
