Betty Reeder

Betty J. Reeder, 85, of Boonsboro, passed from this life on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown.  She was the loving wife of the late Ralph E. Reeder.

Born on May 19, 1934, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Frank R. and Dorothy Hamby and Rosa Mae (Wilson) and Frank Reecher.

Betty was a 1952 graduate of Hagerstown High School and was employed by Washington County Hospital, Fairchild (where she met her husband) and Jamison Door Company where she retired.

She was a member of the Boonsboro American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Amvets, Mount Zion Lutheran Church at Locust Grove and Graduating Class of 1952 Red Hat Ladies.  She also contributed many hours of her time, along side her husband, at the McClellan Cun Club, Rohrersville Ruritan and she bowled at Boonsboro Bowling Alley for many years.  After her husbands passing in 2012 she enjoyed spending her time with her family and friends going to listen to music and playing bingo.

Betty is survived by daughters, Donna K. Anders and husband, Mike, of Boonsboro and Cindy A Zang and husband, Charles (Chuck) IV, of Keedysville;  five grandsons; Michael E Anders, II, girlfriend, Shandi, Joshua K. Anders, girlfriend Melanie, Charles W (Chuck) V, Cort L. and Colton B. Zang; four great-grandchildren, Cierra, Daeva, Etta and Michael, III Anders and Liyah and Dylan Zombro; one brother, Frank V. Hamby and wife, Jeanette, of Florida; sisters-in-law, Lois Webber, Marilou Reeder and  Delores Smith; brother-in-law, Wilfred (Smitty) Smith; and many nieces and nephews.

Betty is also survived by Rosalie Shank and husband, Jerry and Harold Wolf and wife, Jan, who she considered to be siblings; and who she considered adopted daughters, Kris Chambers and Tina Thomas.

Betty was preceded in death by her aunt and uncle that raised her, Hazel (Wolf) Gilardi and Dana Wolf; and her sisters, Delores Binkley, Lorena Simpson and Ruby Branch; brothers-in-law, Bill Binkley, Charlie Simpson, Bill Branch, Donald Reeder, Gail Reeder; and sister in law, Barbara Reeder.

The family will receive friends and family from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29th, 2019 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro.

A celebration of Betty's life journey will take place at 11:30 on Thursday, May 30, 2019, at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. Rev. Richard G. Hembrock will officiate.  Burial will be held at the Mt. Zion Cemetery at Locust Grove in Rohrersville.
