Betty Martin, 87, of Walkersville, Maryland, passed from this life on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at Vindobona Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Braddock Heights, MD.

Born on October 6, 1935, in Middleburg, MD, she was the daughter of the late Norville Thomas Johnson and Lillian Laura Hoke (Clabaugh) Johnson.

Betty was a graduate of the Elmer Wolfe High School class of 1953.

The majority of Betty’s working life was as a seamstress for several clothing manufacturers, retiring from HL Hartz in 1997.   

For many years Betty paired with her husband in a co-ed bowling league at the Walkersville Bowling Center. Betty was a previous member of the AFL-CIO Union, and the Woodsboro Dance Club.

In recent years, she enjoyed watching baseball and basketball, her teams were the Washington Nationals and the Wizards. She derived the most pleasure in spending time with her family.

She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Roy "Jim" C. Martin, Jr., children; Regina Bluell (Mark), James Martin (Kathryn) and Cynthia Hargett, grandchildren; Joshua Bluell (Kristen), Desiree Szelc (Jason), Alexandra Callahan (Dylan), Travis Martin, and Ava Hargett, and four great-grandchildren plus many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by brother Robert Johnson, Sr. (Barbara) and her sister-in-law Patsy Kline. 

A celebration of Betty's life will be held at The Frederick Church of the Brethern, 201 Fairview Avenue, Frederick, Maryland on Saturday, November 19th at 12:30pm.
