Betty Markovich

Betty Jane Markovich, 95, of Mt. Airy, MD, passed away surrounded by her loving family on April 6, 2021 in Frederick, MD.

Born on December 24, 1925 she was the daughter of the late Charles and Helen Shaffer.

Betty was the loving wife of Joseph A. Markovich (Deceased) whom she married on March 24, 1948. Mrs. Markovich is survived by his sons Joseph P. Markovich his wife Linda of Monrovia, MD, and John P. Markovich of Waldorf, MD., 3 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren. She is survived by 2 sisters Dot Crnkovic and Beverly Jerasa. She is preceded in death by her sister Jean Grier and brother Bud Shaffer.

Betty graduated from Westmont-Upper Yoder High School Johnstown, PA in 1944. Mrs. Markovich work at National Institutes of Health (NIH), Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute (AFRRI) and Bethesda Naval Hospital Recreation Department before retirement. Betty enjoyed quilting, painting, fishing, gardening and volunteering at several service organizations with her husband. A Funeral Service will be held at a later date in Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, VA for the immediate family.
