Betty Long

Mrs. Betty J. Long, 87, of Thurmont, Maryland, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Franklin "Bud" Long, Jr.

Born April 26, 1928 in Thurmont, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Samuel P. and Dora M. Lewis Pryor.

Mrs. Long was a member of the Graceham Moravian Church where she was a member of the Women’s Fellowship and also served as head Diener for many years. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxilliary Post #168. Betty enjoyed traveling with her husband, bird watching, gardening and was an avid reader. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her children Linda J. Lingg and husband Robert, Mark R. Long and wife Jill, Ronald G. Long and wife Donna and Kevin R. Long and wife Pamela all of Thurmont, six grandchildren Lalena Rose and husband Daniel, Seth A. Long, Meghan M. Long and husband Peter Kunhardt , Ashley N. Atkins and husband Chad, Troy Long and Alisha T. Long, three great grandchildren Judd,Leann, and Zebul Rose. She was preceded in death by her siblings Donald E. Pryor, Lillian Dominque, Helen Kuhn, Samuel L. Pryor, Gordon L. Pryor, Raymond Pryor and Lester L. Pryor, Margaret V. Long and Kenneth R. Pryor.

A memorial service will be held at Graceham Moravian Church, 8231 Rocky Ridge Road, Thurmont, Saturday July 11, at 2:30pm with Pastor Sue Koenig officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 1:30 pm until service time.
