Mrs. Betty Jean Lawrence, 87, of Middletown, died Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Tranquillity of Fredericktowne. She was the wife of the late Duane G. Lawrence, who predeceased her in 1996.
Born April 19, 1925 in Souix City, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Walter Lee and Margaret Nancy Lammers Wicklund.
She was a member of the Catholic Daughters. Mrs. Lawrence loved to make quilts and was very artistic. She enjoyed painting and drawing and was an avid reader.
She is survived by her daughter, Jeannine Willis of Walkersville; two grandchildren, Marnie O'Donnell and husband, Edward, of Emmitsburg; and Paul Willis and wife, Marisa, of Rockville; five great-grandchildren, Michael O'Donnell, Patrick O'Donnell, Thomas O'Donnell, Joseph O'Donnell, and Mary Rose O'Donnell; and a sister, Joanne Eversole of Lacrosse, WI.
Mrs. Lawrence was predeceased by her son, the Rev. Walter Lawrence; a sister, Geraldine Wicklund; and a brother, Stanley Wicklund.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, July 16, 2012 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, where a Rosary service will begin at 8:30 p.m. led by Deacon John Manley. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 17 from St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 118 E. Second Street, Frederick. Officiating will be Father Kevin Farmer and Father Rob Jaskot.
Interment to follow at St. John's Cemetery.
