Betty Herrell

Mrs. Betty Jane Herrell, 93, of Frederick, MD passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Edenton Retirement Community.  She was the beloved wife of the late Bernard Milton Herrell who died in 2014.

Born June 17, 1924 in Altoona, PA  she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Mary Gonzales Forsht.

Betty worked for the Federal Government as an Ocean Cartographer.  She was a member of the VFW ladies Auxiliary and also a volunteer at Frederick Memorial Hospital.  Betty lived an active life, a pilot in the 40's, a fast pitch softball player and enjoyed ceramics, flower arranging, gardening and playing cards especially Pinochle.

She is survived by her two sons Ronald Wood and wife Sandy of Minnesota and Gary Wood and wife Jan of Las Vegas; stepson Brian C. Herrell and wife Phyllis of Gaithersburg; four grandchildren: Melissa Aleman and husband Carlos, Caroline Wood, Nicole Elmore Wood and Kenneth Herrell and wife Jackie; five great grandchildren; a brother Donald Forsht.

She was preceded in death by her siblings Robert, Clarence, Frank, Samuel, Harold, Ethel, Dorothy and Louise.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM on Monday, February 5, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702, where a funeral service will begin at 11AM.

Interment will be private.
