Betty Ann Fraley Dickerson

Betty Ann (Fraley) Dickerson, 88, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. Born on May 26, 1936 in Olney, Maryland, she was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice Fraley and Mable (Fraley) Ailstock; her stepfather Arthur Ailstock; her beloved husband, James Dickerson; her cherished daughter, Sharon (Dickerson) Smith; and her brother Lewis Fraley.

A life long member of Monroe Bay Assembly of God Church in Colonial Beach, Virginia, Betty's life was rooted in faith and family.

She is lovingly remembered by her children: Pam Stinson (Danny) of Mt. Airy, MD; Bob Dickerson (Carrie) of Millsboro, DE; John Dickerson (Denise) of Thurmont, MD; and her devoted son-in-law, Richard Smith of Colonial Beach, VA. Betty was blessed with seven grandchildren: Crystal Groves (John), John Stinson (Nikki), Brian Smith (Niki), Dave Stinson (Ashley), Jessica Chapple (Ben), Justin Dickerson, and Christina Kidd (Patrick); and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Marvin Fraley, her sister, Margie Hickman, and many nieces and nephews.

Affectionately known as "Ms. Betty" by all who knew her, she greeted everyone with open arms and a heart full of love. Following the passing of her husband, she worked various jobs, but her most treasured role was as a teacher at Monroe Bay Christian Academy, where she touched countless lives. She had a passion for painting, singing, and playing the piano, and was also a proud member of the Colonial Beach Resque Squad.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Lorien Assited Living in Mt. Airy, MD, for the loving care they provided over the past year and a half.

A celebration of Betty's life will be held at a later date. Interment will take place at the Killmon Family Cemetery in Colonial Beach, VA.
