Mrs. Betty L. Diehl, 81, of Frederick, died Friday, December 21, 2012 at Golden Living Center. She was the wife of 58 years to Earl C. Diehl.
Born January 21, 1931 in Lazy Spring, Va., she was the daughter of the late Hubert and Mabel Lohr Layman.
She was raised in Bethesda and later moved to Silver Spring when she and her husband were married. They relocated to Frederick about six and half years ago, at which time they became members of South End Baptist Church.
Mrs. Diehl loved crafts, quilting, gardening and China painting (which was her specialty).
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Bonnie L. Masciantonio and husband, Armando, of Fulton; two sons, Darrell Diehl and wife, Debbie, of Laytonsville, and Kenneth L. Diehl of Frederick; six grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Hubert Layman and Elwood Layman.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, December 27 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 28 from South End Baptist Church, 506 Carrollton Drive, Frederick. Officiating will be the Rev. J. Kenneth Stalls.
Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park in Rockville.
