Betty Jean (Mom-Mom) Carrick , 99, of Boonsboro, Maryland, passed from this life on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late Lester J. Carrick for 66 years.
Born on September 16, 1925, in Washington D.C., she was the daughter of the late Myron M. and Elizabeth C. (Zimmerman) Michael.
Betty was a graduate of Hyattsville High School. Betty was a WWII volunteer with the American Red Cross and worked at the FBI fingerprint Division and later transferred to the Inter-American Affairs. She was a stay at home mom for 35 years, raising her 3 daughters and during this time she had her own business Bette's Bouquets Florist. She was a former member of Hyattsville Presbyterian Church and Riverdale Presbyterian Church both in Prince George's Co., MD. Betty and Lester enjoyed traveling abroad and in 2004 they moved into Fahrney Keedy Village where they enjoyed new friends and being close to their children.
She is survived by her three daughters, Leslie Norris and her husband, John of Sharpsburg, MD, Jane M. Deavers and significant other Bill Wilson of Maugansville, MD and Cynthia L. Carrick of Smithsburg, MD; five grandchildren, Katherine Woodruff and her husband Dan, Michael Norris and his wife, Lindsay, Matthew Alsop, Amanda Deavers and their father Ray Deavers and Brittany Deavers and husband Stephen; two great-grandsons, Brody and Carter and four great-granddaughters, Lauryn, Winter, Kennedy and Sidney. Betty is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her special cousin Myralee Wiles.
She was preceded in death by her sister Myrna Hall Cadwallader.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 am on Monday, March 17, 2025 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro, Maryland where a celebration of Betty's life journey will take place at 11am. Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick, Maryland.
