Betty Breed

d. June 12, 2011

Mrs. Betty G. Breed, 80 years old of Frederick, Maryland was delivered into the presence of our Lord on Sunday, June 12, 2011. Betty was the wife of Nathan L. Breed, Jr., for 62 years, and she was born October 22, 1930 in Clarksburg, West Virginia, the daughter of Revy and Jeanette Miller Golden.

Throughout her life she enjoyed singing, whether in choirs at church, West Virginia University, Potomac State College or during Christmas celebrations with her family. Betty was always a gracious hostess to everyone that entered her home, and delighted in her time spent `vacationing with her family and dog “Lassie” at Deep Creek Lake, Chincoteague, Virginia and Fiesta Key, Florida. Even though she suffered with Alzheimer’s for 15 years, she maintained her beautiful smile and became a blessing to those who took care of her.

In addition to her husband she is survived by her three daughters and two sons-in-law: Sharon Breed Woodland and husband William of Staunton, VA; Dawn Breed Nelson and husband Curtis of Myersville; and Jill Breed Browning of Middletown. Her six grandchildren Jason Woodland, Christopher Woodland, April Showalter, Amy Browning Dill, Daniel Browning and Lindsey Browning. Her great grandchildren are Sadie, Abigail and Tori Showalter; Brookelyn and Kaitlyn Woodland; and Kayden Browning. Her nephew Vance Golden and her nieces Jeannie Easter, Jo Matthews and Becky Golden also survive her. She was preceded in death by her brother Vance Golden, sister Anna Marie Watson and nephew Raymond Golden.

The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Friday, June 17, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Services will also be held in the same location on Saturday, June 18, at 3:00 p.m.

Interment will be at Glade Cemetery in Walkersville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Frederick County, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702.
