Bette Wheeler

Mrs. Bette J. Wheeler  89, of Mt. Airy, passed away on  June 23, 2015 at her residence. She was the wife of the late Richard E. Wheeler who passed in 2004.

Born on February 11, 1926, in Lancaster, PA, she was the daughter of the late William and Inza Huber Spohn.

Bette operated her own child care service in Silver Spring. She enjoyed crosswords, scrapbooking, gardening and jigsaw puzzles.

Surviving are three daughters: Linda Toms and husband Gary of Middletown, Nancy DeHart and husband Donald of Hanover, MD and Janeece Wilson and husband Keith of Mt. Airy; twelve grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren; a brother, William Spohn, Jr. of Mt. Airy, a sister, Doris Smith of Hanover, PA and a special cousin, Pete Spohn who resided with her.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Sylvia Schnee.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Friday, June 26, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy where services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 27, with Hospice Chaplain Gordon Fox officiating.

Interment will take place in Druid Hill Cemetery, Baltimore.
