Bertha Moore

April 30, 1940 — August 16, 2018

Cherished mother and grandmother, Bertha Lee Moore, 78, of Frederick, MD transitioned Thursday, August 16, 2018 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Robert Mitchell Moore.

Born April 30, 1940 in Greenville, MS, she was the daughter of the late Jasper and Leola Adams. She was raised throughout her life by the late Annie Bell Adams.

Bertha retired from Maryland School for the Deaf after 25 years of service. She was a longstanding member of First Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Missionary Board. Bertha loved her God, dancing, reading, cooking and solving word puzzles. She especially loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her son, Tony Moore, Sr. and wife Dana, daughter, Marslince Morris and husband Elmer, all of Frederick. She will be celebrated by her grandchildren Tony Moore, Jr. (Kerron), Anthony Moore (Martise), Marslince Fisher (Autumn), Corrie Fisher, Brandon Moore, Taris Weedon (Jason), Omar Palmer (Nakea) and Thea Palmer. She was blessed with her great-grandchildren Zachary, Destiny, Nadia, Isaiah, Nehemiah, Carter, Noah, Elijah, Christian, Braylon, Naimen, Kennedy, and Zion who will miss their "Big Mama" immensely.

She will also be remembered by her siblings: Bertha Mae Morgan, Johnnie Mae Dotson, Linda Whitley, Gary Williams and Dean Adams; special cousins RoeLane Johnson and Bobbie Scott Thompson; special friends Robert Hill, Elizabeth Disney, Peggy Hill, Kathy Swan and numerous nieces and nephews. There are too many others who Bertha loved and who loved her to name them all individually. Anyone missed is from a forgetful mind, not a forgetful heart.

She is preceded in transition by her grandson Ira Gray, daughter Sammie Moore, cousin Lola B. Richardson and godson Jermaine Hill.

The family will receive friends at First Missionary Baptist Church, 6430 Jefferson Pike, Frederick, MD 21703 on Saturday August 25, 2018 from 11-12PM, where a funeral service will begin at 12PM. Reverend Dr. William H. Graham will be officiating.

Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Repast will be held at First Missionary Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a love donation be given to First Missionary Baptist Church.
