Mrs. Bernice Irene Brice, 83 of Thurmont, died Monday, November 27, 2006 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late James R. Brice who passed away on May 26, 2000.
Born in Frederick county on April 13, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Steven and Bertha Olive (Green) Green. Bernice had worked for the Thurmont Shoe Factory as a lacer and hand stitcher before settling in as a homemaker, mother and grandmother.
She was a member of the Methodist faith and belonged to the American Legion Post Ladies Auxiliary Post 168 in Thurmont.
Survivors include her daughters, Doris A. Slavey and husband Richard W. and Barbara I. Smith and husband Alonzo B. all of Thurmont; two sons, Richard Brice of Thurmont and Larry J. Brice and wife Susan of Smithsburg, MD; her grandsons, David M. Brice and Brandon J. Brice; her great grandchildren, Kayla D. Brice and Ethan and Caitlin Brice; three sisters, Pearl DeWeese of Thurmont, Ethel Minnich of Hagerstown, and Lottie Taylor of Biglerville; a brother, Leon Green of Thurmont.
She was also preceded in death by a grandson, James Brice, and two sisters, Catherine Brown and Hilda Hurley.
Visitation: The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 29, 2006 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont, MD.
Services: Services will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2006 at 1:00 PM at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont, MD., with Rev. Tim May officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens
