Bernice Naomi (Mowen) Zeigler, 58, of Boonsboro, Maryland, passed from this life on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at her home while surrounded by her family and friends.
Born on October 6, 1955 in Hagerstown, Maryland, she was the daughter of Lester "Mike" Mowen of Hagerstown, and the late Annabelle (Whitmore) Mowen.
Bernice was a 1973 graduate of Clear Spring High School. She was employed as a Clerk at the Sharpsburg and Boonsboro Pharmacies for over 20 years, only leaving the workforce to babysit her grandchildren full-time.
She was a member of the Sharpsburg Bible Church and was a member of the Sounds of Joy Choir. She was also a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association (Kingdom Heirs Chapter). Her ultimate passion in life was spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Robert C. Zeigler of Boonsboro; her daughter, Candice Zodrow and husband Kevin of Keedysville; two grandchildren, Mikayla and Cole Zodrow; one sister, Cathy Gross of Clear Spring; and six brothers, Floyd Mowen of Wolfensburg, Pennsylvania, Earl Mowen of Hagerstown, Albert Mowen of Hancock, Steve Mowen of Williamsport, Leister Mowen of Clear Spring, and Lester Mowen of Hancock.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Mowen.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 14, 2013 at the Sharpsburg Bible Church at the corner of Potomac and Antietam Streets in Sharpsburg, Maryland. Rev. Gene W. Renner will officiate. Final resting place ceremonies will follow at Boonsboro Cemetery.
