Bernice "NJ" Roberts, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 26, 1948, in Sandy Hook. Bernice was known for her kind heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering love for her family and friends.
Bernice attended Boonsboro High School. She attended Mt. Briar Church of God. A woman of many talents and interests, Bernice found solace in art and crafts. She had a keen eye for creativity and took great pleasure in making beautiful necklaces with her loving caregiver, Pat. The peacefulness of campfires and the beach brought her tranquility and joy.
Family meant the world to Bernice, and she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. She will be remembered by, Daniel, and their children, Mark W. Roberts, Darryl Allen Roberts, Randy L. Roberts and wife, Tammy, Elaine Robinet and husband, Rick, more than words can express.
Bernice treasured being a grandmother to Ashley Reed, Rachael Roberts, Myranda Rhodes (alongside husband, Ian); and great-grandsons, Brixen Lynn, and one soon to join their family. Juanita, Hank, Gerald, and Marty Roberts and Dusty, Penny, Shawn and many more nieces and nephews shared deep connections with Bernice and were part of a cherished circle of family.
In addition to her immediate family, Bernice formed lifelong bonds with numerous friends who became like family. Michelle Aleshire held a special place in Bernice's heart as a daughter figure, offering unwavering support during both joyful and challenging times.
Bernice's late mother, Julia Evelyn Mills, played an integral role in her life. Alongside her mother, Bernice fondly remembered her brother, Norman Mills; sister, Asenath Roberts; grandsons, Josh Wallace and Devin Roberts, like a grandson, Brandon Miller, and nephew, David Mills, who provided her with a lifetime of shared memories and cherished moments.
Bernice touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her and her kindness will be sorely missed. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind: a family that loved her dearly and friends who were blessed to have her in their lives.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home in Boonsboro.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 6th at the funeral home in Boonsboro with Rev. Tim May officiating. Final resting place ceremonies will be held at Brownsville Heights Cemetery.
