Bernard Herbert VanMeter, 56 of Adamstown, MD passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Raylene Kershaw VanMeter.
Born November 3, 1952 he was the son of Bernard F. VanMeter of North Carolina and the late Zoe Leatherman VanMeter.
Bernard was very active in the Adamstown Community Church. He was a member of the Adamstown Church Consistory and the Willing Workers.
He served in the US Navy during Vietnam and was employed with the US Government.
He was a member of SASS, RC flying clubs: SWAP Modelers, Frederick Mavericks, and the AMA, a Life Member of NRA, and the Harley Rider's Group. He was an avid and accomplished horseman and rifleman and hobbyist. He was a very compassionate animal lover, rescuer, and trainer.
In addition to his loving wife Raylene, he is survived by his three sisters, Debbie Brown, Karen Stine and Janet Ash, his nieces and nephews, John H., Erin, Dean, Jr, and Dillon.
He will also be missed and remembered by all of his special friends for his compassionate spirit.
Visitation: The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Friday, July 17 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
Services:
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, July 18 at 10:30 AM with Pastor Ron Maxson officiating.
Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
