Bernard Abrecht

Bernard E. Abrecht, 93, of Frederick, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Glade Valley Center.

He was the loving husband of Jackie E. Cunningham Abrecht for 69 years.

He was born in Frederick on March 23, 1924 to the late Lewis E. and Mary Gertrude (Lantz) Abrecht.

Bernie began his business career with the East End Esso station on East Patrick Street in the late 1940s. He later had service stations on 7th Street and then opened Abrecht's Esso Station on Jefferson Street in 1962, which was later converted to an Exxon Convenience Station, until retirement in 1992.

In addition to his wife, Bernie is survived by his sons Kenneth Abrecht and wife Michele, Stephen Abrecht and wife Cindy and Donald Abrecht and wife Joyce Zimmerman; granddaughters Cindy Nordean and husband Chris, Jennifer Abrecht, Rebecca Somerville and husband Michael, Diana Abrecht and husband Eric Ferguson, Sara Abrecht and Kristine Abrecht and fiance Brian Beaulieu; great-grandchildren Braeden Speak, Leah Haymaker, Sean and Caden Nordean and Nikolas and Owen Ferguson.

In addition to his parents, Bernie was preceded in death by sisters Charlotte Hamburg, Betty Epley and Mary Louise Beacht and brother Phillip Abrecht.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 10 a.m. followed by the memorial service at 11 a.m., at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Internment will be private.
