passed away on Monday, February 21, 2011at the Kline Hospice House after surviving a long batt
l
e with ovarian cancer. She was the wife of James E. Summerville of Frederick.
She is also survived by her sister

Janet Niewoehner of St Loui

d
nieces
,
Nancee Willhite of Fen ton
,
Mo., Julie Berry of Bumpass
,
Va and Diane O’Neill of St. Louis, Mo as well as many friends.

rew up in the suburb

Louis and graduated from Kirk

ood High School in 1955
.
She attended
Purdu
e
Universit
y
and earned a degree in education in 1959. After teaching in San Francisco she went to
German
y
where
s
he taught in Frankfurt and Munich and then returned to the U
.
S
.
to teach on the
E
ast
Coast
.
She taught for 38 years
,
and 22 years
,
she taught in Anne Arundel County. After retiring
,
she
became a resident of Frederick
,
MD
,
S
he loved socializing with her friends
,
of which there were many. She did much traveling while living
overseas
,
and would go back to Germany often
.
In 1985 s
h
e went around the world with the Un
i
versity of
Pittsburgh program
,
cal
l
ed Semester at Sea. She was a tennis enthusiast
,
and enjoyed meeting new friends
on the co
u
rts. She loved sitting on her screened porch with her husband and dog
,
Jesse.
She volunteered at different times for Habitat
,
ESL
,
Frederick Arts Festival
,
and Weinberg Th
e
atre.
A memorial service will be held at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Saturday, February 26
th
at 1:00PM with Rev. Tim May officiating.
