Benjamine Shumate

Benjamine Riley Shumate, 25, of Boonsboro, MD passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018 at his home.

Born September 30, 1992 in Frederick, MD, he was the son of Meridorothy and Mack Shumate.

Riley was a graduate of Boonsboro High School. Riley loved going outdoors and being active. In particular he enjoyed hiking, going to the gym, and playing various sports such as basketball, football, and baseball. Riley's favorite sports teams included the Orioles and Redskins. He also had a huge heart for animals of all kinds, in which he often aided in rescuing animals that needed help. His loving, compassionate heart and giving spirit will never be forgotten.

In addition to his parents he is survived by his sister, Marylynn Lukefahr and brother, Jesse Shumate.

The family will receive friends at the Germantown Church of God, 16924 Raven Rock Rd, Highfield-Cascade, MD 21719, on Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 10-11AM with service to follow at 11AM. Pastor Mark Hosler will officiate.

Interment will follow at the church cemetery. A meal will be provided afterwards for any who would like to attend.
