Benjamin Anderson Henry, Jr., 79, of Frederick, Maryland passed from this life on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at his daughter’s residence in New Market, Maryland. Born on March 5, 1938, in Reisterstown, Maryland, he was the son of Benjamin Anderson Henry and May Ryland Henry.
He graduated from Westminster High in 1957 and entered the Marines where he served honorably for 3 years doing tours in Okinawaw, Japan. He worked for the Defense Mapping Hydrographic and Topographic Agency and was an Army reservist for 30 years. He retired but then worked for the FBI on several operations. He spent life in service to others as a volunteer fire fighter/EMT for the Damascus Volunteer Fire Department and the Damascus Jaycees. In his later years, he was a member and the Vice Commander of the Frederick County Fire Police. Throughout his long career he was recognized many times for his outstanding service. He was also member of the Veterans of Foreign War. He was loved by all for his smile and kindness and his ability to always make you laugh.
The Henry family would like to thank all his kind doctors, the nurses and staff at Frederick Memorial Hospital and Hospice of Frederick staff and nurses for comfort and support throughout his illness. We particularly would to thank Dr. Branislav Romanic.
He was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Henry, his mother May Ryland Henry, his aunts Etta Bankard and Nellie Earhart and his grandson, David Wright. He is survived by his daughters Trina Henry Tansey of New Market, Maryland and Daylynn Henry Wright, of Frederick, Maryland, his ex-wife, Catherine Didas, of Frederick, Maryland. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Reannen Wright, Brice Wright, Aria Wright, Conall Wright, Catherine Tansey, Mia Cason and Abigail Tansey whom he loved dearly. He will be fondly remembered by his special friend Shirley King of Walkersville, Maryland and Michael Tansey, ex-husband of Trina Tansey.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., on 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, Maryland.
A celebration of Ben’s life journey will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A. The burial will be private.
