Mrs. Barbara Ann Smith, 68, of Frederick, died on Friday, October 24, 2008 at her residence. She was the wife of Oscar T. Smith, her husband of 46 years.

Born on March 13, 1940, in Huntington, PA she was the daughter of the late Charles D. and Merideth Dick Luke.

She was a medical logistic secretary at Ft. Detrick for 27 years. Barbara was an active member of Frederick Alliance Church where she was a Sunday School teacher. Mrs Smith was a member of the TJ High School Band Boosters during the 1990's. She was an avid reader, enjoyed bowling, camping and horseback riding.

Surviving are 3 children: Gregory T. Smith and wife Julie of Frederick, Laurie Smith of Frederick and Charles Smith and wife Rachel of Winchester, VA; 3 grandchildren: Ryan, Garrett and Dylan Smith; sister, Beverly Phebus and husband Clark of Frederick, brother, Patrick Acton of Bradford, PA, sister, Myra Cahill of Ellicott City, step-mother, Pauline Luke of Ellicott City and Charlotte Christie of Frederick who raised her as a child and was a true mother to Barbara.

She was preceded in death by a son, Glenn T. Smith, a sister, Catherine Luke and an uncle, Raymond Christie.

Visitation: Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Tuesday, October 28, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick.

Services: Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 29, at Frederick Alliance Church, 1631 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick with her pastor, Rev. Donald Sargent officiating.

Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1393 Progress Way, Suite 908, Eldersburg, MD 21784.
