Barbara Underwood

Barbara Marie Underwood, 79, of Frederick, MD passed away on Friday, December 9, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of the late Dewey Leon Underwood.

She was born on April 26, 1943 in Frederick, MD to the late Henry and Pauline Thompson. She was a graduate of Annapolis Senior High School Class of 1961. She received associate’s degrees in Accounting and Early Childhood Education from Frederick Community College.  Bobbi worked as a Director of La Petite Academy in Frederick. 

She is survived by her two daughters, Cherie Hyssong and husband Dave, Karen Smith and husband Kenny, eight grandchildren, Brandon Cannon and fiancé Christina Gossart, Breann Geil and husband Jeff, Aaron Cannon, Taylor Hyssong, Trey Smith, Colin Hyssong, Amber Underwood and Jordan Smith and by two great-grandchildren Jason Lee Geil and Hannah Mae Geil.  She is also survived by her sister Doris Grossnickle and husband Steve, her niece and nephew Tammy Drake and Troy Grossnickle and her aunt Rosalie May.  

She was preceded in death by her infant daughter Donna Marie and by her beloved son Leon H. Underwood.

The family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home at 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702 on Sunday, December 18, 2022 from 6:00pm-8:30pm.  

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, December 19, 2022 at 2pm with Pastor Cary Moorman officiating. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
