Barbara Smith

Barbara Hartshorne Smith, age 69, of 6790 Ruhland Drive, Frederick, MD, died Friday, May 2, 2008, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.


Born Nov. 25, 1938 in Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Edward Hartshorne and Mary Warner.


Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Wayland R. Smith, on Feb. 14, 2000.


She had been employed with the Pennsylvania Job Service and as a tour guide at the Falling Water House of Frank Lloyd Wright in Pennsylvania.


Barbara was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Missions Committee and the Staff and Parish Relations Committee.


She was a member of the Women's Club of Hagerstown.


Barbara is survived by one daughter, Kristen M. Moser and husband Chip of Frederick; two sons, Gregory T. Smith and wife Caron of Oxnard, Calif., and Douglas S. Smith of Frederick; one brother, Joseph Hartshorne of Parumph, Nev.; and eight grandchildren, Jessica Smith, Rebecca Smith, Zachary Smith, Melissa Smith, Anastasia Smith, Samuel Smith, Adrianna Smith, and Baby Moser.

She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Amanda Smith.


Memorial services will be held 11:30 A.M. Wednesday at Otterbein United Methodist Church, The Rev. Stephen D. Robison will officiate.


There will be no viewing or visitation.


In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Otterbein United Methodist Church, Missions Committee, 108 E. Franklin St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
