Mrs. Barbara A. Smith, 80, of Frederick, MD passed away Monday, October 13, 2014 at Tranquility Assisted Living, under the care of Carroll County Hospice. She was the wife of the late Thomas Smith and her first husband Nicholas G. Vaciliou.
Born on March 27, 1934 in Frederick, MD she was the daughter of the late Harry I., Sr. and Frances P. Stup Hamilton.
Barbara was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. Prior to her retirement she worked as the head Bank Teller for MD National Bank. She was a member of the Eastern Star, #79, and a Past Guardian of Jobs Daughter #28. Barbara enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, quilting and sewing.
She is survived by her children Maria Weese and fiance Michael Adkins of Frederick and Linda Schneider and husband Mark of PA; 5 grandchildren Jason Schneider and husband Travis Whitaker, Brian Schneider and wife Katie, Matthew Schneider and wife Allison, Kawmere Schneider and Sandra Schneider and 1 great-granddaughter Lydia Schneider.
She is preceded in death by her brother Harry I. Hamilton, Jr.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Thursday, October 16, 2014 from 1-2PM where a funeral service will begin at 2PM.
Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Mt. Carmel Building Fund, checks made payable to Mt. Carmel U.M.C. Building Fund, 9411 Baltimore Rd., Frederick, MD 21704.
