Mrs. Barbara Christine Renten (nee Oak), 74 of Galveston, Texas, died unexpectedly Saturday, September 1, 2012 in Frederick, Maryland.
Born October 1, 1937 in Wichita, Kansas, she was the daughter of the late Myron and Lillian Drugan Oak.
She received a BA degree in English Literature from University of Houston-Clear Lake. She retired as a programmer from University of Texas and was formerly employed by Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York. Mrs. Renten loved buying things for her grandkids, reading, doing puzzles, walking her dogs, traveling, movies and theater. She loved keeping up with modern technology and all the current electronic gadgets.
She was a member of the UTMB Retiree Organization, various churches and she ran her neighborhood watch group.
She is survived by her son, Thomas Renten; her daughter, Paula Renten; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Renten; son-in-law, John Montgomery; and granddaughters, Michaela Green, Lindsay Montgomery and Caitlin Montgomery. She also leaves behind her dogs, Max and Punkin.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
