Barbara Hammond

Barbara Jean Hammond, 69, of Hagerstown, Maryland passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at her residence.
Born in Hagerstown on June 22, 1946, she was the daughter of the late William Drake and Alice (Ecton) Drake.
She was a 1964 graduate of Boonsboro High School.
Barbara had built a successful private daycare in her home.
She was a proud member of the Methodist faith. Spent many years with the Salem United Methodist church until nine years ago when she became a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church. It was at the Otterbein UMC where she was a member of the seniors club as well.
Barbara is survived by her loving spouse of 50 years, Arthur Philip Hammond; two sons, Scott and wife Debbie of Clear Spring, Maryland and Kevin and Olivia of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania; sister Wilma Powers and husband Harry of Hagerstown; grandchildren, Scotty, Layne, Riley, Preston, Savannah and Spencer; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat Morris.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by a step daughter, Faith Hammond.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 21, 2015, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, Boonsboro, Maryland. Dr. Stephen D. Robison will be officiating.
A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the scheduled services.
