Barbara Christy

Barbara J. Christy, of Monrovia, MD, passed away peacefully February 6, 2013, at the Kline Hospice House in Mount Airy, MD, surrounded by her family. Barbara was born on March 5, 1931, in Washington, D.C., to Joseph McFadden and Emma McFadden (Sherwood).  Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Leo; son, Paul Leo; sister, Betty Highsmith and grandson, David Williams.  Barbara had 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.   She is survived by daughters, Kathleen M. Christy (Robert J. Gross), of Littlestown, PA; Diane C. Rauch (Doug) of Sunset Beach, NC; Carol L. Christy-Noyes of Littlestown, PA; Beth A. Roche of Monrovia, MD, and sons, Stephen M. Christy (Mary), of Monrovia, MD; and Duane E. Christy of Silver Spring, MD. Visitation will be held at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 8 East Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy, MD on February 10, 2013, from 3 to 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 9240 Damascus Road, Damascus, MD, on February 11, 2013, at 11 a.m., with burial to follow at Parklawn Memorial Park, Rockville, MD. Father Joseph B. Pierce will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Barbara’s name to the Arthritis Foundation, www.arthritis.org .
