Mrs. Barbara Campbell, 67, of Frederick, passed away peacefully at Frederick Memorial Hospital on Monday, October 24, 2011, with her children by her side. She was the wife of the late Harry Douglas Campbell.
Born on March 16, 1944, in Union Bridge, Maryland, she was the daughter of Gladys Marie Wilt and the late Charles Franklin Wilt.
Mrs. Campbell was employed for many years by the Frederick County Board of Education. She worked as a food service employee and later as a custodian, most recently at Yellow Springs Elementary School. She retired in 2008 to take on a full-time position watching her beloved granddaughter Lucy.
She was an active member of the Grace Community Christian Church. She enjoyed trips to Charles Town and to New York City to visit her son.
Surviving are her two children: a daughter, Brenda Sue Campbell and husband Nathan of Frederick, and a son, Scott Douglas Campbell of New York, NY. She is also survived by her mother, Gladys Marie Wilt, a brother, Charles Franklin Wilt, Jr. of Frederick, a granddaughter, Lucy Rose Campbell, and several nieces and nephews as well as many close and dear friends. Her four-legged friends Daisy and Reba will miss her very much.
In addition to her husband and father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Carroll "Corky" Wilt.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Thursday, October 27 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 28, at 11:00 am at the Stauffer Funeral Home. Jim Dewar of Grace Community Christian Church will officiate. Internment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grace Community Christian Church at 2100 Rosemont Avenue, Frederick, MD, 21702-8220.
