Barbara Bowers
February 23, 1947 — March 11, 2016
Ms. Barbara “Bobbie” Bowers, 69, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away Friday, March 11, 2016 at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born February 23, 1947 in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Mary Evelyn McDevitt Bowers.
Bobbie will be remembered for the kind and loving way she acted as a caretaker for many years throughout the area. One of her passions was her garden and sharing the fruits of her labor with her many friends and family. She was known for making pot pie, chicken corn soup and baked goods. Bobbie was active all her life in 4 H and helped many people with the 4 H and at the Frederick Fair. She was a member of the Maryland Ayrshire Association and loved showing her Ayrshires in the show ring at the Frederick Fair. She loved animals, especially dogs and also “Elvis”.
She is survived by her daughter Martha May and husband Mark, five grandchildren A.J. Jarvis, Jr., Adam Jarvis, Ashley Lephew, April Horton and Mark May, eight great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, her siblings Harold Bowers and wife Juanita, Edward Bowers and Mark Bowers and wife Kathy and step-children Bridgette Hammaker and Randy Branagan, Sr. and step grandchildren Brittany Hammaker, Monica Hammaker, Randy Branagan, Jr. and Raquel Branagan all of Baltmore. Many nieces and nephews, cousins and special friends also survive. She will also be remembered by Bill and Debi Ensor and Sherrie Doody and her special friends Frances and George Bauman. She was preceded in death by her life partner, of 30 years, Mary Ellen Branagan, and two sisters Ruth Ann Bowers and Shirley Eader and her sister-in-law Charlotte Bowers.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, Wednesday, March 16, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, where services will be held Thursday, March 17, at 11:00 am.
