Audrey Tebbs

Audrey Ruth (Wilhelm) Tebbs, 87, formerly of Boonsboro, Maryland, ran into the arms of her Savior on June 24, 2014 in Conway, South Carolina.

Born on September 27, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Frederick E. and Ruth L. (Gehman) Wilhelm. Her husband, Richard Tebbs, Sr. and her daughter, Anita Lynne Tebbs, preceded her in death in 2007.

Audrey retired from the Washington County Commission on Aging. She was a member of the Victory Baptist Church in Boonsboro and The Fahrney-Keedy Home & Village Auxiliary.

Being passionate about the care of their daughter who was mentally challenged, Mrs. Tebbs and her husband founded the Anita Lynne Home in 1970 in Hagerstown, now Star Community. They poured their lives into this effort. Mr. Tebbs and Anita Lynne passed away just 3 days apart.

In 2009, she moved to South Carolina to be closer to her son.  She was a resident at the Emeritus at Conway Place Assisted Living Facility where she played piano and took part in the daily devotions every day. She had been a member of the Langston Baptist Church.

She is survived by her two children, Richard Tebbs, Jr. and wife Lisa of Conway, and Felecia Skidmore and husband Earl of Bartow, Florida. She is also survived by her sister, Laura Myers of Pinellas Park, Florida.

In addition to her parents, her husband and her daughter, she was predeceased by one brother Frederick Wilhelm; and one sister Shirley Jones.

The family will receive friend from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro.

A graveside ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, 17636 West Washington Street in Hagerstown.  Rev. Michael T. Myers will officiate.
