Audrey McDougall

Audrey McDougall, 92, of Walkersville, Maryland, passed from this life on Thursday, August 24, 2023 in Frederick, Maryland.

Born on January 29, 1931, in Great Ayton, Yorkshire, England, she was the daughter of Thomas Frazer Marsay and Ada Isabel Marsay.

Audrey’s childhood was spent in rural Yorkshire England close to the North York Moors.  After getting married, she traveled globally, particularly in the near and far East.  In Japan, she developed a love for Ikebana, the art of Japanese flower arranging and became a certified teacher.

Her love of all things flowers and gardening continued when she moved to the United States in the mid-70’s.  She married her second husband, Ian, a horticulturist, and together they enjoyed the world of plants, flowers and gardens.  

Audrey loved to travel to her native England among other locales, making sure her daughters maintained a strong connection to their place of birth.

She is survived by her daughter, Janette Rickinson, along with extended, blended family members, the Carrows, and Nick Farrell.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ian McDougall and her daughter, Karen Rickinson, as well as her siblings, Phyllis, Dennis, Leslie and Eric.  

A celebration of Audrey's life journey will take place at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 14 W. Pennsylvania Ave Walkersville, Maryland on Saturday, September 16, 2023, with the Visitation at 12:00 PM and the Memorial Service at 1:00 PM. A repast will follow the service in the Parish Hall.  Pastor Phil Beck will officiate.
