On October 30, 2020, Audrey Faye Dixon Haines, Age 94 Of Damascus, Maryland passed away peacefully surrounded by her family.
Audrey was born in Thurston, Maryland on October 9, 1926, the youngest of seven children of Elmer Cleveland Dixon and Olivia Virginia Harrison Dixon. Audrey was the last remaining of her Dixon Family and the last of that generation of Haines’s.
Audrey and her husband James William Haines,Sr. were married for 69 years until William passed in April 2011.
They raised their six children as well as other family members. Their children are: James William Haines, Jr. (Jeanette), Judith Lee Haines Williams (Frankie Williams, deceased), Joanne Faye Haines Clayton (Robert Powell), Jeanette Marie Haines Wease Littrell (Leo) June Elaine Haines Houston (James III) and Jackie Eugene Haines, Sr. (Theresa Johnson Haines, deceased)
They were blessed with 24 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren and 18 great-great grandchildren.
Audrey was predeceased by grandsons John Shannon Clayton and James William Haines III and great granddaughter Gabrielle McDonald.
Audrey was a wonderful mother and homemaker and loved to grow her own garden of vegetables and then would can and preserve them. She was a marvelous cook and not afraid to try something new. In addition to being the great cook and homemaker, she was the bookkeeper and manager of the multiple businesses that were the livelihood for the family.
She was a lifetime member of the Mountain View Methodist Church, Damascus, Maryland, holding various offices and assisting in the many church functions over her lifetime.
Audrey will be greatly missed by her dear little dog, friend and companion “Rosie”.
A Celebration of Audrey's life will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at 12:00 pm at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Blvd., Mount Airy, MD 21771. Rev. Tim May officiating.
Interment will follow at Montgomery United Methodist Church Cemetery.
