Audrey W. Cooke, 80, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away Friday, September 30, at her home.
Audrey was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on January 10, 1942. She was the daughter of the late Georgia Herbert and Alexander Willis. She graduated from Johnson Williams High School in 1959 and subsequently attended Hampton Institutes. In 1961, she married Kenneth O. Cooke. She was a Program Assistant for the Federal Government for many years and retired in 2002.
She had many avocations. Upon her retirement, she enrolled in and completed Frederick County’s Master Gardener program. For many years, she maintained a beautiful home garden. She was an avid knitter, and a generous one, knitting and donating many caps for preemies. She was also a very gifted cook and baker. She was also a very proud and loving grandmother.
She is survived by her spouse of nearly 61 years, Kenneth O. Cooke; a daughter, Cynthia Cooke; a son, Kenneth I. Cooke; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Cooke; and one grandson, Jason Cooke. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
