"This little life of mine; oh, how she shines!" - Ashley Lauren Hazell, 9, of Norman Court, Fairplay, MD, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007 at the Washington County Hospital.
Born February 4, 1998 in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of Michael Alan and Rachael Elizabeth Jones Hazell.
Ashley was a 4th grade, home-schooled student who loved birds, balloons, going to the beach and riding the carousel.
She was a member of the Girl Scout Daisies; St. James Brethren Church and New Covenant Fellowship in Tilghmanton, MD, and sang with the choirs.
In addition to her parents, Ashley is survived by her sister and brother, Savannah M. Hazell and Lucas M. Hazell, both at home; maternal grandparents, Richard and Laura Jones of Keedysville and formerly of Middletown, MD; paternal grandparents Ron and Pat Hazell of Middletown; aunts and uncles, Kim Hazell and Michelle and Joe Ferguson all of Middletown, Melanie and Bill Anderson of Hagerstown, and Eric Jones of Norfolk, VA; cousins, Sarah Anderson, C.J. Ferguson, Emily Anderson, Kayla Anderson, Billy Anderson and Josh Ferguson; and very close friends, Amy Rice, Holly Jenkins and Amy Keyfauver.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2 at Bast Funeral Home in Boonsboro. Rev. Brian H. Moore and Pastor Bob Martin will officiate. Following the service, everyone is invited to St. James Brethren Church for a fellowship reception. Private burial will be in Middletown Reformed Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
