Arthur R. Nyberg

Arthur R. Nyberg, 89, of Sharpsburg, Maryland, died on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at the Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown, Maryland.

Born on May 25, 1920 in Minnesota, he was the son of the late Axel and Hilda (Anderson) Nyberg.

Mr. Nyberg was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II.  He was a member of the Dixon Troxell American Legion Post 211 in Funkstown, Maryland.

Arthur was a retired driver with the Maryland Transportation Company and had also worked for Conservit, Inc. of Hagerstown.

He is survived by his best friend and soul mate, Audrey Nyberg of Sharpsburg, Maryland; five children, Larry Nyberg and his wife Holly of Laytonsville, Maryland, Darrell Nyberg of Frederick, Maryland, Eva Newman of Walkersville, Maryland, Michael Nyberg and his wife Nicky, and Donna Poole of Frederick, Maryland; and two sisters, Arlene Westerlund and Lillian Ojala, both of Minnesota.  He is also survived by many grandchildren,  great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by 8 brothers and sisters.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 21, 2009 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, Maryland.  Rev. Ralph Jamison will officiate.  Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Frederick, Maryland.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, December 20, 2009 from 6 - 9 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
