Arthur C. Wilbur, 91, of Arcadia, Florida, passed from this life on Monday, January 25, 2021 in Jefferson, MD. Born on October 10, 1929, in Pittsfield, MA, he was the son of Woodward A. Wilbur and Ruth Philancia (Chapel) Wilbur. He was the long-time companion of Elaine Cartier Broyles for 47 years.
In his younger years, Art worked on his family's dairy farm in Lanesboro, MA. He loved being on the farm, working with the cows, and being in the fresh air. He later worked for General Electric, eventually retiring from GE. He also worked part time at a family bike shop in Pittsfield, MA.
After he and Elaine retired, they became "snowbirds", and traveled between Massachusetts and Florida, with stops in Maryland and South Carolina, to see family and friends, and typically stopped at Elaine’s daughter’s house in the fall, giving them the opportunity to celebrate his birthday. They eventually settled into the Lettuce Lake Travel Resort, Arcadia, Florida; a beautiful park on the Peace River. He enjoyed constructing bird houses, flower boxes, miniature Christmas trees, and toys from tin cans, such as planes, cars and tractors. Mr. Wilbur was a member of the Free Masons.
In addition to Elaine, he is survived by his sons, Michael E. Wilbur and Arthur A. Wilbur; a grand-daughter, Meghan V. Wilbur; a great-grandson, Knox J. Rogers; a sister, Elizabeth A. (Betty) Wilbur as well as several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Elaine’s children, Karen Broyles Miller, Rick Broyles, Tom Broyles, Mike Broyles, and Suzan Broyles Cahill. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula V. Wilbur, and sister Ruth L. Wilbur.
