Arthur Krum, Jr.

Mr. Arthur E. Krum, Jr., 89, of Rockville, MD passed away Thursday, December 1, 2011 at the Kline Hospice House. He was the beloved husband of Gladys V. Krum for 65 years.

Born November 5, 1922 in Washington, D.C. he was the son of the late Arthur E. and Laura Davenport Krum.

Mr. Krum proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked for Defense Mapping as a Topographer. Mr. Krum was a longtime member at Millian Memorial United Methodist Church. Arthur enjoyed proudly flying a variety of flags that he changed daily, reminiscing about his WWII service in Italy, gardening, his beloved pet birds, model trains, tinkering with and repairing household items, watching the History Channel and football. He also enjoyed visits surrounded by his family, having a lifelong Masonic membership and attending MD Terps football games.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his three children Arthur Krum, III and wife Stephanie of Frederick, Patricia Ginalick and husband Matt of Mt. Airy and Leslie Ba and husband Papas of Gaithersburg; grandchildren Heather Dowgos of Wilmington, NC, Amy McClellan of Waynesboro, PA, Patrick Godwin of Shepherdstown, WV, Arthur Krum, IV of Frederick, MD, Heidi Cooper of CT, Jonathan Krum of Frederick, Virginia Diaz of Gaithersburg,MD, Luke Walker of Gaithersburg, MD and Andrew Afoakwah of Gaithersburg; great-grandchildren Javen Cooper, Carter Cooper, Saydie Cooper, Molly Matthews, Maggie Matthews, Ben Matthews, Susannah Marshall, Fletcher McClellan, Annie Walker and Henry Diaz.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Judith M. Krum and his sister Helen Pena.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Millian Memorial United Methodist Church,13016 Parkland Drive, Rockville, MD. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Friday, January 6, 2012 at 11 AM.
