Arthur Hoversland

April 20, 1922 — October 14, 2014

Mr. Arthur Stanley Hoversland, 92, of Myersville died Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at his home. He was the loving husband of Dorothy Hoversland for 68 years.

Born April 20, 1922 in Hallock, MN, he was the son of the late Andreas and Marie Kolden Hoversland.

Mr. Hoversland was raised in Wolf Point, MT in a homestead on the prairie. His most noted hobby during his childhood was "breaking horses." Art served in the Army during WWII in the South Pacific Theatre. Upon receiving his bachelor's degree at Montana State, he moved to the west coast. From there, he received his master's and PhD in Animal Science from the University of Oregon. He retired from NIH after a 30 year career as an administrator/executive secretary.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Beverly Hoversland and husband, David Knox; Roger Hoversland and wife, Kate; Gordon Hoversland and wife, Myrna; and Carol Yap and husband, Michael; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Burrows.

He was predeceased by a son, Paul Hoversland; and eight siblings.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 18 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 40 Fulton Ave., Walkersville where services will begin at 3 p.m.

Interment will be private.
