Former Frederick, MD resident, Arnold John Grice, died at the age of 90 on July 21, 2014, in St. Petersburg, FL with his eldest daughter by his side. He was born May 2, 1924 in Hosapple PA to Helen and Jess Grice. He served in the Army during WWII as a Supply Sergeant, and then was shipped stateside where he continued his service performing Explosive Ordinance Disposal. After his military service he married Doris Pauline (Shaw) Grice who preceded him into eternity.
During his career he had ownership in several businesses including Grice's Restaurant in Frederick and Conn Organ Studios in Baltimore. He retired from Hiltner’s Furniture Store in the late 80’s. John’s interests included woodworking, cooking, gardening, hunting, and fishing. In his later years he was an active member of the New Vision Methodist Church in Chipley, FL.
He is survived by his four children: Vanessa McCambridge, Sherri Grice, John A. Grice, and Felicia Anderson; three grandchildren: Kristen Kirgen, Jack and Chase Anderson, and two great grandchildren: Sean and Colin Kirgen.
Visitation between 10:00 – 11:30 am, with 11:30 service at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, on Saturday, August 16. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
