Arlene Moxley Tressler

Arlene Moxley Tressler, 88, passed peacefully on Sunday, July 30, 2023. Born on September 8, 1934, she was the eighth child of the late Jesse Herman and Mary Cathern Condon Moxley. She was preceded in death by her siblings, numerous close relatives and friends, and her dear friend, J. Latimer Watkins. 

She is survived by her three children, Darren Eugene Tressler, Faith Tressler Moler, and Dale Allen Tressler, Sr.; five grandchildren, Dale Tressler, Jr., April Kyle (Bo), David Tressler, Savanna Moler, Aspen McKenna (Jimmy); five great-grandchildren; a special niece, Judy Hubble (Donnie), and her former husband, Sherman Tressler. 

Arlene graduated from Mount Airy High School in 1952. She participated in numerous sports and Girl Scouts. During her lifetime, she was employed at Watkins 5 & 10, Potomac Edison, Atomic Energy Commission, Peter Pan, and C & P Telephone. She retired from AT & T in 1990 to play an important role as "Grandma."

Arlene believed in church, family, sharing, caring, discipline, and afternoon naps. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was a true friend making phone calls, sending cards, and writing notes in her famously small handwriting. She helped others and encouraged kindness.

She will be deeply missed. The family sincerely appreciates the care and compassion she received at Montevue Assisted Living (2019-2023) and Citizen's Care and Rehab Center (2023). 

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy, MD 21771. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 4 from the funeral home chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. 

Interment to follow in Prospect Cemetery, Mt. Airy.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Araby United Methodist Church, 4548 Araby Church Road, Frederick, MD 21704.
